As a previous reviewer has mentioned, I also do believe this game would be better if it had some sort of closure. Getting all the trophies and upgrades are fine, but it still provides no sense of end to the game. All the time spent upgrading the submarine and getting all the achievements, just to find the ocean never ending and nothing to give you a sense of complete accomplishment. It kind of makes you disappointed. Unless I haven't gotten deep enough, which I doubt cause after going straight down vertically from the starting point (you can glitch out into the black area) I didn't find anything.

Poor game, and yes I do realize the author said it was a short experimental game. The character was simply uninteresting. The controls felt like you were sliding on ice topped with grease. There was an indicator that pointed out there is an ending to the game which was getting out of the screen, but there were zero indicator on how to achieve this. Basically finding the right path to the ending involved sheer luck or just randomly jumping around everywhere every stage to find a false wall (which I didn't try cause I thought it would be to damn obvious). Especially the ending made me rage out in frustration. A simple, The end. Seriously? Yes it may be a short experimental game but that's just shows there was no effort. I would've understand if this was not on the front page, but that's not the case. It is on the front page. I expected something fulfilling or at least satisfying when I started to play this game cause that is what I expect of a flash that is ON THE FRONT PAGE. I think the biggest fault of this flash is just the fact that it was on the front page. And yes this is with the fact after I read and understood the author mentioned this is a short experimental game. Cause if I see a flash on the FRONT PAGE and the author says it's short and experimental(which waives requirement as precision in the controls, quality of the sound, art, etc), I'm expecting something really intuitive or creative the make up for the lack of length, quality and/or plot. I guess newgrounds is at a slump or something right now. Standards have definitely reached a new low this time.

Great, but with it's flaws

Well, after beating the game through 1 hours of consecutive playing my wrist is killing me.

First off, things on the game as some other members mentioned. Hotkeys, this would have been a god send, and why it was not incorporated is beyond my understanding(would've made the game much more controllable). Another thing, upgrades for the cursor which could have been nice as the pull range or speed. The music was good, but after listening to the same music for 1 hour straight it does want to make me scrap out my ear drums with a rusty dull spoon. Also, the tutorial was way to forceful in my opinion, and the fact it does not repeat after the first run through of it (unless I missed a button or something) had me confused for couple of rounds as I accidentally skipped through few messages. And I don't know how the penguin AI was set up, but two things I would like to mention about it. One, the penguins grind themselves to the wall(although I feel this has been done purposely so the obstacles actually block the penguins), and they seem to pick random targets instead of picking the target that is right in front of them(excluding the fading penguins). The game also had it's fair share of some grinding to get started, but nothing unbearable.

Some good thing about the game I liked, is that although upgrades were necessary to advance through the game, one did not need to get all the upgrades to beat the game. Well timed ability and a little bit of luck, and it is possible to beat a round without arming your penguins to the teeth. I felt that the abilities actually is useful in this game(all four of them), and didn't have a lot of problem with the game's balance until towards the end of the game, where as it started to get easy.

So, I don't know if anyone at all would read this 5 page essay of a comment, but I think this game earned it. I felt the game was very entertaining, and enough for me to log in, write a review, and vote. So keep up the good work, I'll look forward to your next work on the front page.

Was late for work

Playing this game lol. At first I got the nuke, it was fucking awesome. That is, until I found out it was just paper weight. But then I threw a rock at it, and BAM. The screen was filled with the glorious light of atomic DEATH. Then I killed myself from the blast LOL. This game put incorporated subtle humor, and it's funny as hell. Took some time to finish and get all the achievements (haven't gotten the 2 hour one though), but it wasn't too much of a grind. The headshot with the grenade was funny too. All in all, great game. If a flash game succeeded to keep me occupied for an hour, it was done right.

Quite fun

My only question is, why the hell am I better at this game drunk than sober? WTF?!

19th level... 19th level... 19th level...

I thought everything was fine until that level 19... Oh my god, you need perfect timing on your jumps and moving, nothing short of perfect and you're dead. I also did run into control troubles mainly when it started over shooting or the arrow keys input weren't being properly registered. I think this was mostly a browser problem, not the game's problem. Because when I played level 19 the second time (I plunged to my death trying to get that coin on level 20, didn't restart) through the flash player only, not through the browser (by extracting the swf file then running it straight with the flash player), not only did I find the controls more crisp and precise, I beat level 19 within 2 minutes. I tried this again on the browser, no luck. This game is one of the cases when the game was fine during development, but now with lag and browser compatibility and user computer lags, it made the controls quite frustrating.

Intuitive, creative, and much fun.

The game was very original in my opinion, and the subtle way of hinting the player how to use the controls was refreshing change. I also like the small tidbits dialogue that Jack spoke during the game play, and the flash back that had the player interact with the other character. The whole game gave me goosebumps as I saw the story progress, and I say, bravo to you guys for making this awesome game. Truly one of the best flash games that the newgrounds have seen in quite awhile. Kudos.

Innovative

The story was a little cheesy, but I liked this puzzle solving system. This flash took a old fun time killing puzzle, and made it bit more challenging. Where as a traditional puzzle had only static puzzle pieces, in this puzzle each puzzle piece is a part of an animation, so it provides more challenge to the solver as the person solving the puzzle needs to put the animation to the calculation, like in the bite my valentine one you have to line up the vertical pieces according to when the character moves from left to right. Anyway, great little piece of flash game. Very entertaining.

good game

i kinda feel bad when i played this and wiped out humanity as we know it but... hey, its a good game. i had 0 lethality on my virus, and on one country i infected everyone without killing them lol, then on the next day, crank up all the symptons, then BAM all dead hahaha.

for people who cant beat this (i doubt there is anyone), the key is the get a low lethality, yet high infection rate. for me, my lethality rate was 0, so no death, visibility was 1, and infection rate was 24. so i didnt kill anyone so the countries would not shut down, then when i infected all countries, upgraded all the symptons for the kill.

i like it, its pretty good.

this game is fun, entertaining, and interesting. but it could've been longer, and with more option. also, the rock paper scissor battle at the end (if you got there) was easy, as the computer goes, rock, paper, scissor, or in a pre-drawn pattern it is pretty easy to beat the game. for those of you who cant

focus at the begining with the markets, it will bring in most of your revenue, while buying farms here and there. then about day 25, or 30, start buying fortresses when you can, and start buying more markets and farms. when you max out your market at 200, you should start building all your fortresses, then when you max out your farms, start raising an army, build wonders (wonders are cheaper at the begining, and they raise in price, buy them around day 35-45), then after you maxed out farms, markets, start building mines and smithies. the mine and smithies have to be a ratio of 1:2, so 2 smities for every 1 mines you build. then at day 50, you should have about 400 armies and plus, and now you go and win the rock paper scissor. easy way to win is read the enemies pattern, as it would go in a pattern, or i think paper, rock, then scissor. and there you have it, you beat the game.
